McPherson Retires from Sun Trust

Charles McPherson, President of SunTrust Banks Mid-Florida today announced he will retire effective December 31, 2007. He is a 36 year veteran of the banking industry.

McPherson has a long list of civic leadership contributions including Chairman of United Way of Central Florida, East Polk Committee of 100 and Winter Haven Hospital Board of Trustees. He has also been heavily involved with Polk Vision and in particular the development of the Leadership Polk program unveiled this year.

In 2006 he received the Banker’s Cup Award, Winter Haven’s highest civic honor.

    I wanted to personally say, that it has been an honor working for Mr. McPherson. I am a branch manager who has been with SunTrust for 20 years and I will truly miss his leadership at our bank. He was instrumentally in a lot of people’s careers including mine and his intrigrity is one all of us patterned our career after. SunTrust is truly losing a great man. I am blessed to have been able to have met this wonderful man and been able to grow under his leadership. There will never be another man like him. He will be truly missed.

    WOWEE!! How happy Pat & I are for you and Louise–you have truly been a wonderful asset to our community (hopefully that will continue!!) and to both of our professional lives.
