Skyrise Development Corporation has posted to their Web site two projects the company is planning on US 17 North:
Winter Haven 166 is described in a pre-development prospectus as a 166 acre commercial/retail (mall) located at US US 92 and US 17.
Winter Haven Shops is the second concept described as 40,000 square feet of retail space just north of Brigham Road (near the Honda Dealership). It, too, is in the pre-development pre-leasing stage.
Skyrise describes itself as a national owner, developer and manager of commercial real estate properties. These include corporate headquarters, landmark properties, urban business parks and more. You can view the Winter Haven postings here.
At this point both projects appear to be in the conceptual stage. No permitting has begun for either development.
Tell us what shops and other retail you would like to see on Winter Haven’s north side.

As a twenty something homeowner in Winter Haven, I would love to see a Circuit City, Target would be great, maybe a Dick’s Sporting Goods, and I agree with the higher class restaurants.

We want a real bookstore like Barnes & Noble or Border’s Books. (Books-A-Million has poor selection and is always messy.)
Sweet Tomatoes restaurant would be good.

I don’t think there is enough traffic in that area to support any of the mentioned stores and restaurants. But I could be wrong, just seems to far off the heavily traveled paths.

DEFINITELY A BOOKSTORE, PREFERABLY BARNES & NOBLE, BUT ANY BOOKSTORE WOULD BE A START. THIS AREA SERVES AUBURNDALE, WINTER HAVEN, LAKE ALFRED & HAINES CITY SO THERE ARE PLENTY IN SURROUNDING AREA TO SUPPORT IT… AS A BUSINESS OWNER IN THIS PART OF TOWN I AM THRILLED TO SEE SOME GROWTH HERE. HAVE HEARD ALOT OF POSITIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THE RESTAURANT “FIRST WATCH” — TARGET WOULD OF COURSE BE GREAT.

Winter Haven needs a bookstore…Borders or Barnes and Noble would be great…Seattles Best would be great in a Borders or Starbucks in Barnes and Noble…This area needs more education. I am sure that the teachers in the area along with parents are doing what they can to educate their children and classes….however having bookstores around would enhance the learning experience. Not trying to create a hang out for children, but to bring up the level of knowledge…

Yes Winter Haven is sorely lacking a book store! Barnes and noble- Books A Million. Anything with more than the 15 books that B. Dalton stocks… You have to drive 45 minutes to find a decent one?! Or if the library would open on sunday that might make reading a little more manageable :)

Barnes & Noble would be great. Also a target. How about 7/11 or a Ractrac, I have a home in the north 17 area and a 24 hour gas would be great. Also a Whatter Burger in winter Haven. Kohls,Kirklands would also be great.

I would like to see a Target come to Winter Haven. I don’t want to keep traveling to Lakeland or Orlando.

I would love to see a TJMAxx or Marshalls. I would love to see Ross stores, Kirkland. Also, fine dinning, some brand outlet stores. Maybe some expensive stores such as Sacks or Neiman Marcus. It’s all good! About time. Long due!
