I am deeply saddened by Marlene's passing. It was an honor and privilege to know her and to work with her on numerouse community service projects.

God has moved her from the BOCC and 6/10 offices to Heaven, where she'll continue to serve his people. My prayers are with Bob and the children.

I was lucky enough to work with Mrs. Young many times over the years. She was a consummate professional and a wonderful woman. Winter Haven is a more wonderful place in part because of her many years of public service.

Betty and I send our most sincere sympathies to Bob and family. We are in Milwaukee and got the phone call Thursday.Marlene was something very special and a dream to work with. I had the pleaure of working with her in Winter Haven, in Bartow, and in Tallahassee. Gone but never forgotten. I could not even begin to note the issues on which she made a difference. Because of this you always wanted Marlene on your side of any issue. Winter Haven may not realize the extent of their loss. The candlelight ceremony is a fitting tribute and I am pleased that the Chamber took this step forward.

Although I did not know Marlene Young personally, I knew who she was and had seen her at various functions over the years, most recently at one of the EPC-100 meetings.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time. Her Husband and daughter are recovering from this tragic event and as they begin to heal physically it will be important for those close to them to help with the emotional healing as well.
It is with that thought that I say God Bless you Marlene, you made a difference in our World.
